Education and Experience

Robert Browne received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.  He is a member in good standing of the Virginia State Bar.

In 1979, he was appointed a Special Justice by the Circuit Court, and served in that capacity until 1987.  In 1982, he was appointed a Commissioner in Chancery by the Circuit Court, an appointment he still holds.

Over the years, he has attended numerous continuing legal education and professional development programs, including those presented by Virginia Continuing Legal Education, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and the American Law Institute-American Bar Association.  Robert Browne is a member of the Litigation and Business Sections of the Virginia State Bar, and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (NAELA).

A former mayor of Manassas, he has been active in his community.  He has been a member of the Manassas City Council, president of the local Chamber of Commerce, and secretary and treasurer of the Prince William Bar Association.  He has served on various boards, including Historic Manassas, Inc. and the Center for the Arts.  He also has been an officer and board member of the Washington, D.C. area chapter of William and Mary alumni.


Practice Areas

The firm represents clients in all state courts of Virginia.  Over the years, we have represented businesses, financial institutions and individuals in important cases.  Our main practice areas are:

Business Law.  We advise clients on the formation and operation of their businesses, including the review and negotiation of contracts, the impact of laws and regulations on businesses, and the representation of clients in business disputes and suits.

Trials and Appeals.  We represent individuals and businesses in all types of civil cases, including business and contract disputes.  Robert Browne has completed the "Trial Advocacy" and "Negotiation" programs of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Wills, Estates and Probate.  In this practice area, we work with clients in the preparation of wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives and health care powers of attorney.  We also advise and assist in the administration of trusts and decedents' estates and in the representation of parties in guardianship proceedings.
